Identity has been made a fetish that demands to be worshipped - a worship that has become societies monster, consuming rather than enriching, inflating the value of the self with expanding hollowness. But the ritual of worship TESSÆDWARDS provides, does not engulf - but instead, it seeks to enhance the very essence of Identity. This nature of routine sacrament confronts rather than enforces the tendency of conformity within consumerist fashion. In doing so, it offers an escape from trend led fashion and its symbols of belonging, and simultaneously, of alienation. To the ills of submission into fashion’s powerful drift, this prescribes an antidote: a visual of 'being', building and evolving the self.
TESSÆDWARDS uses a method of presenting each look as a dynamic of three interchangeable parts, addressing the paradoxical tension between commercialism and the exclusivity that comes with creative expression. Each piece of the look acts to build towards a liberated creativity of the self and in doing so, the worship of Identity. The Looks forming each collection are assembled in a specific structure integral to the brand. The complete aesthetic is formed of three essential components, a ‘Trinity’: The Base, The Prime and The Polar. The Base is the foundation of each separate collection, made up of individual items that can be worn and interchanged with pieces from The Prime or The Polar collections .The Prime fundamentally explores textures, structure and concepts that complement and enhance The Base. The Polar draws the entire look together with accessories, shoes and jewelry. This three-part formula is carried through into the branding, epitomized by the triple ring logo.
